We have a Netgate 1537 from a couple years ago, along with a 2-port SFP+ expansion card that we got about 6 months ago. I'm finally ready to install it, but I have a couple questions first.

      1. The expansion card came with a fan. Do I need the fan? I can't figure out how the fan is supposed to attach to either the fan enclosure, or the card itself.

      2. I haven't looked super closely, because the firewall is in the rack and I can't look closely without shutting it down, but is there a guide for opening it or any tricks or anything?

Is that a NIC and fan you got from us directly?

You should use the fan. The Chelsio NIC must have the additional fan. If it is that it fits to the enclosure toward the rear in line with the CPU fans:

@stephenw10 Yes, we did get it directly from Netgate. It came with the fan, but no directions, so I was trying to fit the fan onto the card itself. I opened a TAC ticket earlier and got the PDF, so that definitely helps. I would recommend adding those instructions to the official manual, it would have made my life a lot easier. 😄
