Updated to 23.11...now log (general) is full of Limiting ICMPv6 neighbor discovery redirect output notices
-
hey all,
just updated (a few hours ago) to 23.11...
Update went thru smootly, all packages kept working...
BUT:
I am wondering about entries in System logs (general). Here I find a whole bunch of
Limiting ICMPv6 neighbor discovery redirect output Messages (limiting iE from 254 to 94 packets/s).
What does that mean? Why didn't 23.03 show any of that? Is there anything I can do to stop this (either change some settings or -if nothing serious is happening- stop those messages...thy spam my logs)?
Thanx in advance! :) -

Going to 24.03 ?!!
No, wait ....
Your pfSense itself should ask for an even better solution : -
I assume you mean 24.11 and 24.03?
Seems like you have something sending way too many discovery packets. Or maybe a loop. I would grab a pcap and see what's actually being sent there.

@stephenw10
yes, I meant 24.11 of course....
I'll have a look...
Thanks -
hey all,
I could narrow it down...
found my zyxel switch was causing the problem...it is (I guess) another bad IPv6 implementation. So I offed my v6 Interface on my xs1930. Still reachable with v4 and no more spamming my logs.
Thank you for your hint @stephenw10 :)
