I want to update the config in my hot spare SG-1100. So I made a backup of the active SG-1100 to my laptop.

Powered up the backup unit, plugged the laptop into it (LAN port) using a known good cable. The web ui can't be reached, though. Browser can't get to it.

I spun up a puTTY session and connected to the console without any issues. The console UI seems normal. The LAN IP was set to 192.168.1.1/24; I reset it to the same address and also tried http in addition to https.

      What am I missing?

Is the WAN connected? To a different subnet?

Is the laptop connected with WiFi to conflicting subnet?

@stephenw10 WAN isn't connected to anything. Nothing on LAN except the laptop. Console UI confirms address of 192.168.1.1.

I didn't check the IP of the laptop but it was 192.168.1.<something > since it had been on the active system before I unplugged it.

Good idea about checking the wifi, but if it had turned on wifi and connected it would have still had a 192.168.1.n IP, and in that case I'd expect it would have connected to the live systems pfSense device. What I'm seeing is no response whatsoever from the router.

Hmm, certainly should allow connections. Especially if dhcp is working so the laptop get's an IP in the correct subnet.

Try running at the console menu options 16 (Restart PHP-FPM) then 11 (Restart GUI).

Try to ping 192.168.1.1 from the laptop.

@stephenw10 Got it. For some reason it didn't like Brave (my usual browser).

Switched to ungoogled chromium and it worked fine. Restored my backup and I'm waiting currently as it reinstalls packages.

              Thanks for your help.
