      Hi Guys,

my plan is to install the PFsense Software on a Switch

      Zyxel GS1900-24HP v2 Switch

I successfully installed OpenWRT on that system but Id like to have pfsense instead.

Did anyone try something like that before and how could I be successful?

      BR

@roadrunner662 well for starters this page

            https://openwrt.org/toh/hwdata/zyxel/zyxel_gs1900-24hp_v2

It only has 16MB of storage.. How do you think you could install pfsense on 16MB?

            Flash MB:
                16
            RAM MB:
                128

Yes there is no pfSense build for that CPU/SoC either. And it could never be built for it, pfSense requires a lot more powerful hardware.

@roadrunner662 Open WRT is different from pfSense. Open WRT is dedicated access point software with limited firewall capabilities, and pfSense that is dedicated firewall software with limited AP capabilities. The Open WRT is very streamlined for AP use and software is smaller. Pfsense is a hypothetical tank and takes up more room. I run Open WRT on my AP and pfsense is on its own box. I don’t think you should run it on a layer 3 switch.
