Had PfSense. Had to reinstall. Not getting a connection
-
Hey guys, I had PfSense. I had to reinstall because I tweaked my BIOS settings. I got an IP address, but I can't seem to get a connection. If I plug my ethernet cable from the modem to my PC, I get a connection.
How do I troubleshoot this?
Sincerely,
Henry -
@Master-Henry What specifically is and isn’t working?

@SteveITS I can't get a log into pfsense and configure the web via IP address. It is still blank for my LAN. If I type in the IP address for the WAN, I get the message it can't be reach/unreachable.

I tweaked my BIOS settings
As you have a console access.
If you disabled all network cards in the BIOS (call this a - agree: silly - tweak) then, when pfSense starts, it could not find any interfaces so you can't have a LAN, or WAN, etc. So no GUI.
You still have a console access.
You still can see what happens when pfSense boots. So, what did the console showed you when booting ?
Another approach :

restart, enter the BIOS, undo the tweak.

What is blank for LAN?
Where did you type in the WAN IP address?
It seems like the LAN side is probably working correctly if you can access the pfSense webgui from a client in the LAN, correct?
So the WAN interface fails to pull an IP address from your ISP/modem?
The most common cause of this is a subnet conflict. If the LAN is using the default 192.168.1.X subnet the WAN must be using something different. IF the WAN is already using that then change the LAN to some other subnet like 192.168.100.1/24.

@stephenw10 For WAN, I have an IP address. I tried to enter that IP address on the LAN via web browser but it is still failing as unreachable. I can't get into the pfSense webgui to set up PfSense. There is nothing on LAN. Blank.

@Master-Henry At the console you can assign a LAN IP/subnet.

Like at the console in the menu?
Is your client pulling a dhcp lease even?
