pfSense 5Gb/s Ethernet NIC
-
I just had 5Gb google fiber installed (up from ATT 2Gb/s) and I have an intel X540T2 10Gb/e card for the fiber jack ethernet port. I am NOT using their router/modem. I'm using bring your own router. I have 10Gb/s SFP+ to my switch stack and primary servers.
No link light. on the X540. I went back to my 2.5Gb/s card (QNAP QXG-2G1T-I225) and everything works fine (except my speed is limited). What card do I need to get for the WAN side?
I appreciate any help.

@Craash
X710-T2L or T4L should support directly with latest firmware, but really don't know about FreeBSD and some OEM versions like Dell, have seen some 10/1 Gbe versions only.
Some years ago I've got x550-t2 working on 5Gbit that just showed me unknown speedvin pfSense UI.You can pick some unmanaged switch that have at least 2 10 Gbe ports that support NBASE-T (2.5/5 Gbe). Something like that
or another one -
@w0w I ordered a intel x550. I read that it supports 2.5 and 5.0gb/s plus 1 and 10. So we'll see if it works. It will be here in the am.

@Craash It works!

Nice!

@stephenw10 Right?? I'm not sure I need it, a lot of my stuff runs over a VPN which is a bottle neck, but it's fun to say I have it. :)

This will enable the missing 2.5Gbps and 5Gbps speeds.

Little bit of reading but it works great. I used Linux but the tools are available for FreeBSD too. I've done a T4L and a T2L and both worked as expected.
