      Hi,

What is the exact support for SFP on WAN2 1G combo port for a Netgate 6100?

I attached this port to a MikroTik CRS310-8G+2S+IN using a MikroTik SFP/SFP+/SFP28 cable (XS+DA0001) which should support SFP/SFP+/SFP28 devices but for some reason the port doesn't come online. When I connect a RJ45 it works fine. Also for the 10G ports, with the same type of cable and MikroTik switches it works without any issue.

      Thank you

@WiVM strangely the CRS310-8G+2S in is not on the list of It is but my finding skills were laking: Mikrotik: SFP+ devices supporting 1G links. Maybe the doc is not up to date.

Does the 6100 see the DAC at all? Run ifconfig -vvm ix2 from the console (SSH into the 6100 for that)

And have you followed the MikroTik notes mentioned in the link above?:

"For MikroTik devices with SFP+ interface that support both 10G and 1G link rate, following settings must be set on both linked devices for required interfaces. These settings only relate when optical SFP transceivers are used. In order to get them working in 1G link rate, use the following configuration:"

        # Since RouterOS v7.12
        /interface ethernet set sfp-sfpplus1 auto-negotiation=no speed=1G-baseX

        # Older RouterOS
        /interface ethernet set sfp-sfpplus1 auto-negotiation=no speed=1Gbps full-duplex=yes

@patient0 Thank you so much for this. Once I forced the MikroTik to 1G-baseX it started working. I have kept the Netgate to auto, might still force it if really necessary.

          Thanks again.

@WiVM said in Netgate 6100 SFP cable not working on WAN2 1G combo port:

... Netgate to auto, might still force it if really necessary

That won't be necessary since that SFP port can only work at 1Gbit max.

Yup the combo port will only link at 1G in the SFP port.
