IPSec VPN failing on Netgate 4100

I've hit a problem in the last two days where I've been unable to connect to an IPSec VPN until my 4100 has been rebooted. This has happened now on two different machines, a Windows 11 PC and a Chromebook, for two days in a row.
The VPN is pretty standard as far as I can tell - L2TP/IPSec with pre-shared key.
Is there any debug information or settings I can check in pfSense to work out what's going wrong here?
