Amazon Prime Video issue -- resolved by restarting pfsense every few days.
-
Hi,
I have a strange issue, I have been experiencing with Amazon Prime.
If I click on any new video it does not play till I restart my Netgate 4100.
This happens randomly every few days.
I have tried playing a video across several macs and ios devices and across several browsers Chrome, Firefox, Safari with same result.
I get the following error "prime video error code 7131".
Is anybody else experiencing similar issueAny pointers to investigate / resolve the issue will be great.
Cheers

@1octet
Are you using the following- Privacy VPN
- Pfblocker
- Snort or Suricata
Pfsense in its default “out of the box” configuration does absolutely nothing in regards to packet manipulation. In other words it just blocks or passes traffic. Any changes from that (installed packages, policy routing, etc) will introduce problems

Yes pfblocker is enabled and caching DNS w unbound is enabled

@1octet
During the time of the problems, have you checked pfblocker logs? Have you disabled pf blocker to see if that resolved the issue? -
I have approximately 20 lines in my pfblockerng DNSBL Whitelist section.
The very first 4 are related to amazon for streaming.
.aan.amazon.com .s.amazon-adsystem.com .c.amazon-adsystem.com .d1ykf07e75w7ss.cloudfront.net # CNAME for (c.amazon-adsystem.com)

@michmoor, Thanks for the pointers, Unfortunately the timing when this happens has always been bad. rebooting the system has been quickest way around it.
I will disable pfblocker next time round and see if this resolves the issue.
Since the issue disappears after reboot makes me womder, the issue is somewhere else.

@skogs , thanks for the whitelist. I will explore this option too when I experience an issue next time. Hopefully, I'm not time constrained.

Is anybody else experiencing similar issueprime video error code 7131 is 'very' known.
On the amazon support forum .... the question exists, and is never (?!) answered - have a look for yourself, I spend only 5 minutes over there.
Some one said : It's a amazon error ! ..... and they don't know about it ? () ?!!
So, imho, knowing that pfSense 'out of the box', which means : no (like none !) settings changed, exception : the password, the error probably won't show up anymore.
You've changed DNS settings ? That's a very known reason why people post here : stuff stops working well ^^ (It's always the DNS !)
Adding pfBlockerng in the mix (and a load of DNSBL feeds) : yeah : 'errors' will show up all the time. That's normal. Check the Alert logs, and see if you need to white list some DNSBL (amazon) host name.
