Installer prompts for DHCP settings but doesn't use them
-
I finally had occasion to use the Installer yesterday (netgate-installer-v1.0-RC-amd64-20240919-1435.iso) for a CE install, in a Proxmox VM.
During setup it prompts for IP info. For WAN it makes sense as it needs to download. It then prompts for a LAN IP, and DHCP settings/range. After the install, it doesn't save any of that, and one must set it up from scratch at the console? It therefore seems unnecessary to prompt for it all. Unless maybe the intention is to add that feature in so it's used after the install?
(I tried to search but literally didn't find anything for Installer and DHCP...)

The LAN settings for the installer are used by the installer, but it's not fully implemented yet, and optional. For example, there could be a web-based installer, or you can SSH in and perform some pre-install configuration if needed.
As for the WAN/LAN settings being exported to the fresh install, that's in progress and will be in the next installer release, it's already being tested internally.
