Update to 2.8.0 always still starts 2.7.2

I have issues upgrading from 2.7.2 to 2.8.0. 🥺
Did all as recommended: Removed all packages, did a reboot, then started the upgrade via console. It loaded all the new packages and 2.8.0 base system, then it rebooted and came back up online - but still as 2.7.2
Did several reboots, restarted the upgrade via web GUI and console - nothing helped. Every time it came up as 2.7.2.
Reverted the snapshot to have a working firewall again and now looking for ideas what might be the issue ...

Do you have an upgrade or boot log from the failing boot?

Unfortunately not. I took a different approach yesterday evening: Installed a fresh 2.7.2. (due to the lack of a 2.8.0 ISO), upgraded this without issues and then restored the saved config. Worked without issues.
