        @hydn hey there,
        With "new" I guess you mean you use kea dhcp now?
        Here this: https://docs.netgate.com/pfsense/en/latest/services/dhcp/kea-settings.html#general-settings

          @the-other That "settings" tab was not there before in 2.7 when clicking Services > DHCP Server. Unless I'm mistaken.

            In 2.7.2 ISC DHCP server was used, that server did not have that tab. Now KEA is the default DHCP server and KEA got that setting. You check the link @the-other provided and you find the documentation about it.

              @patient0 I had KEA set since 2.7 prior to upgrade. That setting was still not there.

              I only installed pfSense 2.7.2 like ~ 2 months ago (shortly after the April 1st announcement), and before setup of interfaces, rules, etc. one of my first changes I made was to set KEA as default.

                You are right, the KEA implementation in 2.7.2 didn't have any DNS registration and was missing other features. Hence there was no 'Settings' tab.

                  @patient0 ok cool. Whats the best practice? Nothing is enabled on this page be default. Enabling registration has any downsides?

                    One .... it doesn't adhere to KIS concept.
                    Best practice would dictate :
                    If you don't need dhcp-into-dns registration, don't activate it.

                    On the other side : help Netgate testing this new solution : one more user is one more occasion to find possible issues. Many user will thank you later.

                    For other, we've been waiting for this thing to work for a decade or so.
