PPPoE module (if_pppoe) in DSL environment

Hi,

just a (more theoretical) question:

beside the known problems (SNORT etc.) of the new kernel driver if_pppoe, are there any improvements in a not so fast (DSL/VDSL) connection type? Has someone made some deeper tests? CPU load under heavy transfer, maybe speed etc.)
PS. I have read what is written in the documentation. (2.8.0)
