pfSense install extremely slow under Proxmox 8.4.8
-
Hi,
I'm trying to install the latest version of pfsense under the latest version of Proxmox (8.4.8), and it is so slow downloading packages that I thought during the first install the install software had freezed.
I have read https://docs.netgate.com/pfsense/en/latest/recipes/virtualize-proxmox-ve.html, carefully.
Is there anyone having more luck than me maybe? If the install is that slow, I cannot image the performances of pfsense afterwards...

@Philippe-Lang Did you change the checksum setting? Is DNS working on the pfSense VM?

Hi,
I could change the checksum setting after installation only, I don't think you can do anything before installation. It took me 45 minutes to install pfSense, byte after byte. Reminded me the old days, with dial-up internet!
After installation, I could measure a throughput of around 600Mbits download and 800 Mbits upload, which is not too bad on a 1Gig wire. But I wish I could saturate the wire completely. I'll make some more tests later this month...

@Philippe-Lang Some other guy was just complaining about slow speeds downloading the installer so maybe it's that mirror having issues.

@KOM Oh! :) Thanks!
