      When I attempt this upgrade, I wind up with a message that the upgrade failed. Examining the upgrade log file has no clues as to why.

      I have seen recommendations that I try uninstalling packages before upgrading. If I do that, will the packages automatically reinstall? Will package configuration be retained?

      I am especially concerned about the WireGuard package as that was a bit of a pain to get working.

      I am not low on disk space. The pfSense dashboard tells me I am using 2% of available space.

        @hspindel The configuration for various packages remains in the config file unless the package has a setting (so do, some dont) in their UI that clears the configuration in the config upon uninstall.

        So removing packages does not remove the config, and when your upgrade is finished you should just install your needed packages again, and they will start with the config they had when you uninstalled them.

        As always - remeber to backup your config file BEFORE you uninstall your packages (just in case).

        Love the no fuss of using the official appliances :-)

          @keyser Thank you.

          So do you concur that removing packages is a good idea?

          And I have to reinstall manually?

            If you have a problem upgrading then removing packages first is a good idea, yes.
