MAC spoofing requirements with the Netgate 1100 ?
-
Hello Everyone,
If I assign the MAC address ("Physical Address") of my computer’s Ethernet interface ("Ethernet adapter Ethernet") to my Netgate 1100 by the following method...
“Navigate to Interfaces: > WAN.
Locate the "Physical Interface Settings": section.
Find the "MAC Address" field: and enter the MAC address you want to use.
Save the changes: to apply the new MAC address to the WAN interface.”... And, insert the Netgate 1100 between the original WAN connection and my computer (LAN connection), will my computer still work as normal?
Will Internet browsing and all that still work?
How about TCP connections to my computer originating from the Internet (from the original WAN connection)?
Will I need to change the MAC address of my computer’s Ethernet interface too?
Thanks!

The 1100 has 1 NIC with VLANs on it to connect to each of the three ports. The VLANs inherit the MAC of the parent NIC so all three interfaces on the 1100 share the same MAC.
Thus if you spoofed the MAC from a LAN side client to the 1100 it would create a conflict because both the client and the 1100 would be using the same MAC on the LAN subnet.

After reading the answer of @stephenw10 I would say : yes.

Thank you. I will try it to confirm, but will plan for it not to work.
Thanks!
