      All-
I have attempted to do a clean install of version 2.8 without success. Apparently the mouse driver on the memstick and ISO version is not working correctly. The installer proceeds to the point where drive selection is required. The gui shows both the memory stick and the internal hard drive. However I am unable to select the hard drive by clicking the selection box on the left side. The keyboard or mouse is unable to make the correct drive selection resulting in a failed install. The PC is a small form factor Lenovo MT-M 7518-D4U, having a Core I3 3.4GHz processor with 16gb of ram. The mouse is also a Lenovo product. This mouse works flawlesly on version 2.7.2 in addition to eariler versions of Pfsense. Are there hot keys or a work around available where I can do a clean install?
      Thank you,
      Jim

@scottjh1 Space bar doesn't work? I honestly don't remember if a mouse works there...

The slightly longer way would be to install 2.7.2 then upgrade.

Only install packages for your version, or risk breaking it. Select your branch in System/Update/Update Settings.
When upgrading, allow 10-15 minutes to reboot, or more depending on packages, CPU, and/or disk speed.

As a temporary fix I did the 2.7.2 install then upgraded to 2,8,1. In this case I am attempting to have a clean install. However as we go forward the answer is I must find the causal reason. When I attempted the install I used the Fios router as a firewall in front of the device I was doing the install on. Possibly this is the cause due to to an unknown rule blocking a key port. For sure I am not willing to put the device being upgraded directly on the internet.

I solved the current problem. Turns out when you use the Fios router they have a small number of of open ports. Adding rules similar to the default LAN rule in Pfsense corrected the condition. I now have completed upgrading to 2.8.1. Lesson learned always check the rules.

Mmm, there's no mouse in the Net Installer (or any installer). Technically it's not a GUI it's a TUI so it's keyboard only.
