      Hello @stephenw10,

Reading some of your forum entries, I understand that you conducted the bandwidth tests on Netgate devices.

I've read the footnotes in the Netgate Hardware Comparison document, and I'm interested in knowing what your setup was for testing the Netgate 8300 appliance running pfSense Plus. Since you weren't using expansion cards, I assume you only tested the four built-in 10 Gbps interfaces.

Could you provide more detailed information about the test? For example, did you set up one IP on each interface, saturate all of them with iperf, and then measure only the egress traffic?

I'm also wondering if using 25 Gbps interfaces could achieve greater throughput. However, I suspect it's not possible to improve the Firewall and IPsec VPN performance simply by replacing the network cards. My supposition is that the Firewall and IPsec VPN performance was limited by the CPU, not the network interfaces.

I would appreciate any more information you could provide.

      Thank you

I wasn't personally involved in that, I'll see what I get for you. But, yes, almost certainly CPU limited for any pf or VPN testing.
