      Hi,

I cannot yet upgrade due to the dhcp changes since I'm not ready to take that on and need a package which I believe is called 'UDP Broadcast Relay'.

Package manager is not showing any available packages at all so how can I get this done? I have devices on a wireless subnet that need to be accessed by the main LAN subnet.

@lewis Kea? You don’t need to use it.

        Try https://docs.netgate.com/pfsense/en/latest/releases/2-7-1.html#troubleshooting

Only install packages for your version, or risk breaking it. Select your branch in System/Update/Update Settings.
When upgrading, allow 10-15 minutes to reboot, or more depending on packages, CPU, and/or disk speed.

          Hi @SteveITS

I think you're saying run this; certctl rehash
I did that but there is still no package list.

Or, maybe you're saying I should upgrade since I won't be forced to change DHCP right away?

            @lewis both :)

            You could try https://docs.netgate.com/pfsense/en/latest/troubleshooting/upgrades.html#upgrade-not-offered-library-errors next.

But yes you can switch DHCP servers
            https://docs.netgate.com/pfsense/en/latest/releases/2-7-1.html#kea-dhcp-server-feature-preview-now-available
“Administrators can easily switch between ISC DHCPD and Kea by navigating to System > Advanced, Networking tab and changing the new Server Backend setting in the DHCP Options section.”

In 2.7.0 you probably need to run certctl rehash to see packages again. But you should then either upgrade or make sure the branch is set to 2.7.0 before installing any packages.

                Thanks for the help!

I upgraded to 2.7.2, packages are back and DHCP was still the default.

Is there a problem keeping DHCP? I need to dig up why it's being deprecated.

@lewis why only to 2.7.2? Current is 2.8.1, 2.7.2 is like 2 years old and no longer officially supported.

I'm upgrading all the way. Just saying that 2.7.2 solved the issue, I was able to install the package. I then fully upgraded.

It’s in those release notes I keep linking. :)

ISC DHCP still functions it’s just EOL.

I am still running isc, see no need to change - kea brings nothing to the table currently that interests me. And I for sure do not like the current logging it does.

To be honest, the biggest thing in the new kea that I could see a lot of users liking is the registration of dhcp leases not rebooting unbound. But I don't register dhcp in dns, I just use reservations and register those.

Sure at some point will make the switch, but since there is nothing wrong with isc, and it works exactly like I like it - see no point to switching over and "possible" issues to show up.

@SteveITS I didn't read everything yet, was busy trying to get the problem solved. As I said, I'll look at why since I use DHCP on a dozen networks at least.
