        @Antibiotic Here’s 🤞

I’m hoping for a SG-3200’ish device with a low power ARM CPU @ SG-4100 performance levels and a SFP Combo port for WAN

Love the no fuss of using the official appliances :-)

How about a replacement for the SG-1100 with better quality storage?

@ebcdic That’s also a good idea, but please, no more units with one NIC and a switch only. It’s too complicated for those small installations to use VLAN “abstraction” of interfaces.
Also: it can cause issues at reboot depending on what and how it’s uplinked.

@ebcdic said in New hardware in 2026?:

bout a replacement for the SG-1100 with better quality storage?

and 4 gb ram on top that.. i got one and it cant do anything but basic router.. heck a $49 TP link can be a basic router. 1 GB wont run the advertised IDS/IPS and heck it chokes on basic firewall functions. im actually really looking for something else and its only been online a couple days.. really weak sauce..

                SG-1100 + 3 Gbytes = SG-2200 ! ;)
                And some more LAN ports.
                Afaik, same processor.
True, the price doubles as you have to ( ! really ! ) pick the MAX version.

On my wish list for next year is a Netgate 6300 with:

                  • Atom x7405C quad-core CPU (35% faster than the 4200's C1110, 1W less @ 12W TDP)
                  • 2x 10G SFP+ / RJ45 Ethernet (10/5/2.5/1G) combo WAN ports
                  • 4x 2.5GbE LAN ports
                  • 8GB DDR5 RAM
                  • 128~256GB NVMe M.2 SSD (user-replaceable) – no eMMC
                  • Locking PSU connector
                  • Rack or wall mountable (with optional kits)
                  • 10G+ L3 IMIX performance

                  Price: $999

edit: bonus if the case is made of any other material besides white plastic– e.g. black, blue, red, or better yet, made of metal

@Antibiotic I hope they have a better line up for rack mount options.

My 7100 is a bit aged, the "6300" sounds good. No point in me buying a 6100 when it is more or less the same as the 7100.
The "No eMMC" line is a must. I do not want something that will not last a very long time.
I do not know the cost difference between 2.5 and 5Gb ports, but ATT (I am sure others) are delivering routers with 5Gb ports. To get the 5Gb crowd, a port to use it would be nice.

@AndyRH The 10GbE ports would be able to negotiate at 5/2.5/1 as well so that should address that need.

@luckman212 SFP+ ports with copper SFPs? IMO Most would prefer native 5Gb copper ports and not have to buy an SFP. Actual support for copper SFPs would be nice.

@AndyRH I'm confused. I did write that it would be nice to have:

                            • 2x 10GbE / SFP+ combo WAN ports

                            Meaning:

                            • 2x 10G SFP+ (cage) ports for fiber/DAC modules
                              AND
                            • 2x 10 gigabit Ethernet (RJ45) ports which can autoneg at 1/2.5/5/10

Guess that last bit wasn't explicitly stated (it's inferred) but I did update my post to mention it.

@luckman212 that looks like a solid box.. I would buy that to replace my aging 4860 for sure..

I know my replacement will be rack mount.. I currently have the desktop model the 4860 sitting on a shelf in my rack.. Would like to actually mount it..

Moving to a rack was one of the best things I have done recently - so much cleaner sitting under my desk vs multiple devices pile up on the corner of the desk..

If putting together a wish list, those lan ports if multigig vs just 1/2.5 would be icing on the cake.. 1/2.5/5/10

@luckman212 The Silicom Valencia platform which the SG4200 is based does have options for an 8 core C1130 and SFP+ ports. I would not be surprised if they went that route instead kind of like they did with the SG6100/8200 route where they used the same Silicom Cordoba platform/chassis. Also a problem with the x7400 series is max of 9 PCIE lanes vs 20 in the C11XX granted it would be sufficient for 2 SFP+ and 4x 2.5Gbe ports, 2 more 10 Gbe RJ45 ports would probably not be possible with that CPU.
