My pfsense project….motherboard question

Well im in the process of collecting the parts required for building my personal firewall to replace my linksys router. i will build it in a supermicro 1U chassis. i ordered the intel dual port 1000/MT server adapter (listed in HCL), a 1u cooler but the only thing left is the motherboard and its compatibility as i dont want to buy something and then find out that it is not compatible. Im looking forward to this motherboard :

What do you think about compatibility with pfsense? Please not that i dont care about the onboard nic or sound as i will disable them in bios anyway. Im looking about good chipset compatibility (nforce 430)
and SATA disc recognition (SATA controller).
Also another one and final question. Does pfsesne recognise a dual core AM2 cpu (4600+)? I mean is it compatible with am2 cpus??

i bought the same case. but the mobo has to be AM2 as i have a spare cpu. :)
Anyone, will this mobo be ok??

Not sure about nvidia compatibility, but can't see why not. I've had good luck with amd 780v/g motherbaords (cheaper now that 785G is out). I always pair that up with an intel dual nic card (cheap pci ones on ebay).
No problems with athlon 64's. I've had a 5600+, a 5050e and even a new 240 with no issues. All overkill of course…. :)

I think what mrbostn was trying to get at is that the Supermicro case doesn't have an interchangeable mobo I/O plate. If you get anything other than the supermicro mobo, you'll have to bust out the Dremel tool :P

EDIT: Actually, I was thinking of their "front I/O" mounted cases. That case that was linked earlier seems to have screws that may remove the rear panel. Cool. As far as OS compatibility, I would assume it would be fine. I just made a pfSense box using a Foxconn G41 board (intel based), and it worked great. Good luck!
