My goal was to throttle downloads of .rar, .zip, .avi, .iso files etc with Squid as transparent proxy. Throttling works, but I just can't get large downloads to work reliably. See also http://forum.pfsense.org/index.php/topic,21458.0.html

I tested by simultaneously downloading a few 100 MB zip files, and the result is that a lot of transfers get aborted before they reach 30 MB. Without Squid it works OK.

It doesn't look like a performance issue: CPU (P3 800 MHz) + memory (256 MB) are barely used.

      Pfsense 1.2.3-release
      Squid 2.7.7

Anyone else having similar problems? Any ideas what could be causing this?
