Atom won't boot
-
Hi -
I'm using a supermicro 1u server with an atom 330 in it, 2gb memory. pfSense 1.2.3 works fine.
I downloaded the dec 28th snapshot of 2.0 and it boots off cd, however when it gets to this point of mounting the cd it hangs. I'm using a usb cd drive.
Here are the last messages on the console:
mountroot> cd0 at umass-sim0 bus 0 target 0 lun 0
cd0: <slimtype 2="" esau208 ="" ml05="">Removeable CD-ROM SCSI-0 device
cd0: 40.000MB/s transfers
cd0: cd present [44285 x 2048 byte records]at this point it hangs. I did try to reburn the cd to make sure it wasn't a coaster.
Thanks
-Mike</slimtype> -
I've seen that on some hardware. It's a FreeBSD 8.0 issue when booting from USB CD, there has been some discussion on one of the FreeBSD lists recently. Try a stock FreeBSD 8.0 CD, I suspect you'll see the same.

If that's the same Supermicro 1U atom 330 I have, there is a PATA controller inside. Hook a CD-ROM up to that and install.
Or install 1.2.3 and do a firmware update to 2.0.
