Per Chris' blog post here http://blog.pfsense.org/?p=531#comment-6206
Has anyone tried this alternate 1.2.3 release based on FreeBSD ~ 7.3 over the main release of 7.2?

Between the upcoming FreeBSD 7.3 release and this guy's post: http://nw-ds.com/ALIX_with_IDE_HDD
it would be nice to get one more minor release with those drivers added in.  Devs?  Please?

There are some builds against 7-STABLE floating around between the devs that some have been testing, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

We'd all really like to move on and focus on 2.0 and getting that stable, but only time will tell if the issues out there will warrant another point release. Last I heard, there were no current plans for another point release.

I'd hate to have things in perpetual beta though.  We'll probably be having the same discussion about something else when 2.0 is released.
