      Hi folks,

I'm using pfsense in a corporate environment and have the need for greater than 1Gbps through a single interface.  I realize you will not see 10Gbps throughput with a NIC of the same speed, but I do know that it will be faster than 1Gbps.

Anyone using 10Gbps interfaces, and if so, which ones?  I have tried Intel, Chelsio, and one other I've forgotten and they either fail to be detected, although the drivers are there, or don't work correctly in one way or another.

      Thanks

          @XIII:

check the hardware compatibility list here
          http://www.freebsd.org/releases/7.2R/hardware.html

Thanks.  I've read that many times, and posted on it previously.  I've tried several of the model cards from the list without any good results.

I'm looking for someone who has already used them…

            Tried: http://www.myri.com/Myri-10G/10gbe_solutions.html

They seem to say they are supported by FreeBSD 7.0….

Btw, is Link Aggregation using 1 Gbps hardware out of the question?  It'll save you ALOT of $$$

            Good luck..

How can you configure Link Aggregation?  I have a lot of 1Gbps ports on these boxes, but never found a way to do aggregation…

                For Intel stuff: http://www.intel.com/support/network/sb/cs-009747.htm

It's quite reliable…  especially if your into using vmware...  according to their forums...

You may have to wait for 2.0 to get released for Link Aggegation/Inteface Bonding in pfsense  :-(

Vmware is a good workaround until pfsense has native support.  Check the vmware forums.

Or, in the mean time several linux based software routers has such capabilities already...  If you don't mind having to add another box to your setup..  Also, you must have some nice managed gigabit switches that supports bonding w/ alot of free ports to play w/ coupled with pc's that have multiple intel gigabit nic's

Yup, that's what I thought.  I use aggregation with just about every other appliance and operating system, but as far as I know, it's not supported in any fashion in any released version of pfsense…

For what I've read 10g nics aren't that well supported in 7.2.
IIRC there was talk about a manual hack to support lagg, maybe for $$$ supportinfo@pfsense.org can help.
