      SOLVED

Two identical pfSense 1.2-Release boxes both set to send System, Firewall and DHCP log messages to separate remote syslog servers. Both are working EXCEPT one of these pfSense boxes is showing ~25% higher CPU usage and spits out only DHCP measseges to the remote syslog server.

I shelled out to top and see syslogd is causing the CPU usage to be higher.

Both these pfSense boxes are live with hundreds of users. Syslogd appears to have a problem. Making ANY changes at the syslog settings page renders no response from syslogd.

Restarting syslogd fixed problem. Searching this forum I see syslogd does have issues at times.
