Hi, I am a new Pfsense user with very little linux experience. I am pretty good around Windows but linux is big learning curve. I was able to get my firewall up and running with DHCP, UPNP (yes, I know the safety issues with UPNP) enabled and some basic port forwarding for my servers (Teamspeak 3 and Source Dedicated servers). Everything is working well (although I haven't pushed anything yet) but I have a couple questions:

      1. I did some reading on MBUF and I am a little concerned about mine (582/780). I have 1GB ram and a AMD 3000+ 939 CPU (single core) +2 x Intel Pro 1000 nics. Is there a way to allocated more MBUFs or is this fine?

      2. Are there any general tweaks or settings besides the basics that I should be aware of? I want to optimize my network for latency since I host game servers.

      Thanks in advance.

pfSense is based on FreeBSD not Linux.
You could add more ram but I doubt it's needed.

Increase your state table size instead.

        A good read.
