Interesting DNS issue

DNS forwarder is set on, and connecting through either connection (we have two wans) will not connect to aston.ac.uk or to ox.ac.uk (aston and oxford university respectively)

Yet it will essentially connect to any other server on the planet. Heck, I try an nslookup on either and all I get is a

nslookup aston.ac.uk
;; Got SERVFAIL reply from 192.168.1.2, trying next server
;; connection timed out; no servers could be reached

Connecting to the wire directly from a laptop, both sites open with no problems. What gives?
