      Hi All,
      newbee here, for 2 years I have been using pfsense firewall without having problem
      last week, somehow it stop working, my ping was timing out, so I rebooted it ,and it became normal.
      and this week, samething happened, I cant access user interface during that hang time, I cant even ping,so only solution for me rebooting which I dont want to do often.
      any ideas to overcome this issue will be more than welcome for me.

        I could be a hardware problem. When it locks up, can you check the console on it to see if it's outputting error messages?

          As the previous reply mentions, a hardware failure is your top suspect in this situation.

          If it has worked fine for a long time, and you didn't change anything, it's probably hardware. Biggest culprits are usually hard drives/storage media, power supplies, and RAM.

          Also check for leaky/swollen capacitors on the mainboard. If they have brown goo coming out, ditch/replace that board ASAP. It's not only unreliable, but dangerous. Do not touch the electrolyte.

            I checked it, it seems like pretty good.
            I am gonna install pfsense 1.2.3 upgrade, I checked the upgrade guide.it seems like it is pretty safe doing that.
            but since I am not very knowledgeable about pfsense, I have little concerns.
            if you guys kindly share your suggestions before doing this upgrade, I really appreciate.
