      I updated to …1_7 pkg v. 1.8 and it returns an error:

      Fatal error: Call to undefined function: filter_get_vpns_list() in /usr/local/pkg/snort/snort.inc on line 1176

      I know James is rather busy but wanted to bring it to everyone's attention to see if the problem is local to my pfSense box.

          jclausen…

          I was able to find a "workaround" to the problem by simply commenting out the five or six lines of code that relate to line 1176's call. Once I did that, Snort started up and seems to be running normally.

            Could this issue be the same with 2.8.4.1_5 pkg v.1.7 on pf 1.2.3?

            I have 3 pfSense boxes running 1.2.3 with 2.8.4.1_5 pkg v.1.7 and Snort will not stay running. Updates seem to be running ok, but will not start. I tried digging through the logs, but haven't seen anything. One of the machines is a clean install from about a week ago.

            Thanks

                can someone start a bounty to finish Snort-Dev 2.8.4.1_7 pk v. 1.8

                thanks

                why do development of packages seem to always fade

                  @simby:

                  Are you getting an error message ("Fatal error: Call to undefined function: filter_get_vpns_list() in /usr/local/pkg/snort/snort.inc on line 1176") or just having trouble getting it to start? The problem I was having was the one above. Just open the snort.inc file and comment out the section of code (five or six lines, as I recall) that address the VPNS_LIST function.
