H55 chipset: good results on pfsense
-
I've installed pfsense 1.2.3 release on a mainboard with H55 (mainboard: asus P7H55M-PRO) chipset and an Intel core i5 750 CPU. Runs perfect; onboard LAN is also recognised. Hope you guys can use this information! My experiences with other chipsets/configurations:
COMMON INSTALLATION PROBLEMENSWhen de CD or DVD drive is bad, you can get strange errors on installation. This is one of the first things to check on errors.

CPU Intel Core2Duo E6600
(intel LAN cards, PCI)

SATA DVDRWAn IDE DVD-rom isn't recognised; by trying it, you will get a panic: root mount failed message.
A SATA DVD-rom/DVDRW (Samsung) is recognised without problems.
Onboard LAN is recognised directly
I could only start the system up by setting the modem on DHCP-server. Afterwards I turned this off again. No problems.Mainboard Intel DG31PR
