WAN won't connect
-
This is a strange problem and I don't even know if it's hardware related.
System: 1.1 GHz AMD Athlon, 512 MB RAM, 2 Realtek adapters.
What we did:
1. Burn the CD and boot it up.
2. Let all countdowns pass w/o pressing anything
3. Select no at the VLAN prompt. When configuring the adapters, both adapters work fine, are detected, one is selected and it goes on to the WAN prompt which is the problem.
Now for some reason the light on either network adapter won't light up when the WAN cable is connected. As I said they both work when the LAN cable is connected and they're both detected by pfsense. Connecting the WAN cable to the same computer when Windows is running also works.
But in pfsense the WAN cable isn't detected and the light on the adapter doesn't even light up..Any idea what could cause this? Could it be the adapters?
Thanks

try different cables or adapters, a lot of people say they have problems with realtek, sometimes its random (i have a realtek gigabit inf and every so often it wont work and i have to reboot, been fine for 2 weeks now)
