      Hey all,

      I've been trying to get squidGuard to work for past few hours. I followed this video and have tried it over and over: http://files.pfsense.org/tutorials/squidguard/squidGuardQuick.htm …

      Anyway, I installed squid and then squidGuard via the package section. After that, I opened up squidGuard and followed the video. I made sure I hit the save and apply buttons at the correct times and my settings match those in the video. The list I am using is the same one pictured (http://www.shallalist.de/Downloads/shallalist.tar.gz) which seems to be working.

      However, when I get to the final step, squidGuard wont re-enable it self to display the 'started' status. I've tried deleting reinstalling the package and gui components with no avail.  Can anyone help me? What am I doing wrong?!

      Regards

          @dvserg:

          What PFSense version you have ?

          Hey,

          I am running this version:  1.2.3-RELEASE built on Sun Dec 6 23:21:36 EST 2009

          I installed the OS to an internal harddrive (40 gig, IDE) using the LiveCD version of pfSense. I downloaded it here: http://mirror.qubenet.net/mirror/pfsense/downloads/pfSense-1.2.3-RELEASE-LiveCD-Installer.iso.gz (I am from the UK also).

          In regards to the OS, it seems to work fine, I am posting from behind it right now. I have The firewall machine attached to a 24 port switch.

          Regards

          Edit: As squidGuard requires squid to be running, must I configure squid first before using squidGuard? I just tried to configure squid but ended up being unable to access any website (including the webConfigurator) so I had to reinstall the distro. Is there a guide for squid out there? Do I need to configure squid first? I just want my firewall to block the bad pages in the mentioned black list, thats all! If I can get this to work, I am going to purchase the pfSense manual.

            Just check the HOWTOs page. Everything is explained there and is pretty easy to set up via GUI. First make sure you can use squid for surfing stuff and then install squidGuard.
