Hi. i have internet cafe with 22 workstation. All are for web and other internet service. No gaming service.

I all ready running pfsense on my other internet cafe also. And 2 days before i have installed Squid on my pfsense box. and i did configure as i read on the tutorial. its work good i think.

But i have few question for better understanding. So please help me to know better way squid so that i can get optimum performance.

      My first question is..

      1. should i need to configure my all workstation browser for http proxy setting? or i need to set the port for proxy port(3128)????

      2. Hard disk cache size. what size i should apply here? i have 80 GB ide hard disk.

3)Memory cache size. What size i should apply here? i have 3 Gb ram.

4)Maximum cache size. what size i should apply here for optimum performance? I have no problem with bandwidth. All i need is speed. I have 24 MBPS(I get 15 mbps from my isp) connection for my 22 workstation no limit for bandwidth.

this are my question. please help me to configure my squid proper way. so that i can get optimum performance from squid.

I will wait for the answer.take care and ba bye

Most of your questions are better asked on a squid forum - I honestly don't know how many people here will be able to help with them (including me.)  One exception: you can just run squid in transparent mode, which requires nothing to be changed on the client PCs.

            1. not if you have squid being transparent
2,3 and 4 depends on what other packages you are running
