I have CF card so I need to use the nanobsd embedded images. They don't have the mwl driver it seems. Is there a way to add the driver after the installation or do I need to create my own nanobsd image? How do I specify the drivers to be included in the nanobsd image?

mwl was introduced in FreeBSD 8.0.  pfSense 2.0 is the first version based on FreeBSD 8.0.  If you've been trying the 1.2.3 release since 2.0 is in beta, it won't be available.  If it isn't in 2.0, you should file a bug and request that it be added.

I just added mwl(4) to all pfSense 2.0 BETA kernels (embedded and full) over the weekend. What images are you trying?

I also added support for a lot of other new cards: zyd, mwl, bwi, ipw, iwn, malo, uath, upgt, urtw, and wpi. Of those, only mwl supports hostap mode. Also, bwi, malo, and upgt still need work as they need additional firmware modules which are not in the FreeBSD source tree and will need to be added yet.

For a spreadsheet I made which outlines wireless support a bit, check out here:
