Off-topic, but I would like to join the ##pfsense IRC chat room and am at a loss.  I have a Mac and downloaded/installed the Colloquy IRC client software, but it appears I need to login to an IRC server in order to join the chat rooms.  Is there a free server I can use, or must I pay for such a service?

      Thanks…

I stumbled upon the instructions here:  http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=426168

For what it's worth, my VPN connection to the office prevented the IRC client from connecting properly…

As you've found (since I've seen you on IRC :) ) you just need to point your IRC client to irc.freenode.net in order to connect.

I thought there was an entry somewhere about connecting to freenode, I'll have to look again later and perhaps write up a doc entry about it if there isn't one around already.

Thanks Jim.  I have not had a need to use IRC before, so this was a learning process.  Two things that got me:

            • My VPN connection to the office blocks IRC ports
            • I did not know the username/password for IRC was just "made up" information.  I thought I had to register it somewhere…
