I have managed to mess up my squid install to the point where saving and restoring my config with out any package information has no affect.
The last time I did this squid said it was running but I could not save any changes to the Cache Management page. They would revert back to the defaults.
Squid remains in the Installed packages list and will not uninstall.

Is there a way to force all of it's damaged parts out of the system?

I scrolled through my config file with package information and I see 6 or 7 configs for the cache settings some the same some are the default and some from when I tried different settings.
If I wipe these all out and upload the saved file do you think it will help?
      Thanks
      Allan

I went ahead and did it , And it seemed to work this time Squid is running.

One quick question Does firefox work with the proxy setting on Auto or should I set all machines up Manual for the proxy?

Then I got videocache running sort of , the cpu went to 100% and stayed there . Killing squid did nothing So I uploaded a backup config .xml and squid is back to the way it was . Listed as installed but not in the services tab.

Below is from my config.xml  These are one after the other in the squid config section.
Anyone have a clue as to why the system is doing this?  No wonder Squid is crashing all the time.

Fsck gave me this on the first stage
INCORRECT BLOCK COUNT I=25436232 (4 should be 0)
              CORRECT? no

The  -r option gives an invalid command error . Is there a way to repair this issue? Or is it irrelevant?
