Somehow, the update became ineffective.

The update is only for -RELEASE.
It should have told yo uthat the signature is invalid on the image. At least it did while i was testing.

It didn't told me that's REALESE-only. It just downloaded the image and reboots.

I invoked auto upgrade, Reboot and version still the same:

Have you tried upgrading straight from the shell? It works for me.
