Hello everyone, i've just bought a new Alix 1d.
I tried to install linux voyage, because i was told it was the easiest and fastest way to get it running. And so i installed
voyage 0.5.2 from my ubuntu box in the 4gb Compact Flash, i got no errors during install. When i turned on the alix i got this error message:

      INTEL UNFI , PXE-2.0 (BUILD 0.83)
      COPYRIGHT (C) 1997,1998,1999 Intel Coorporation
VIA RHINE III MANAGEMENT ADAPTER V.2.43 (2005/12/15)
PXE-E61 MEDIA TEST FAILURE CHECK CABLE
      PXE-MOF: EXITING INTEL PXE ROM
DISK BOOT FAILURE INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER.

I wanted to know if i've done something wrong. Whats the best(easiest to install) system one can install on an alix 1d.
I hope you guys can help me
      Thanks

This is a forum for pfSense. Some people use pfSense on ALIX hardware, but this is not the correct place to ask about Linux on ALIX.

The message suggests to me that the Alix is trying to boot over a network interface (PXE boot) but that is failing because the interface is not connected to anything useful. I don't know enough about Alix systems to guess whether this can be eliminated by a BIOS configuration change.

          The

DISK BOOT FAILURE INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER.

message suggests the BIOS is either not seeing the CF or it can't find a bootable partition on it.
