      Dear All,

Just installed Snort 2.8.5.3 pkg v. 1.22 last night since it is now a stable version

However, does anyone have issues when restart the Snort Interfaces?

Everytime i update rules or make changes in the "Categories", I run into difficulity to restart the Snort Interface.

I have already click "Save" then "Start" in the "If Settings" Tab. Also click "Green icon" to start in the "Snort Interface" Tab.

      Anyone suggestions, please.

I have this same problem. Running Snort 2.8.6 v 1.26 on pfsense 1.2.3. P4 2.4ghz with 256 ram (54% utilized). I am a paid subscriber with Oinkmaster and automatic updates are set for 12 hours, incl. the ET lists.

After a successful rules update, the interface refuses to restart. Under the Services menu it shows the service is stopped and trying to start it here does not work, despite a message saying that the service was successfully started.

I've tried hitting Save, trying with and without the checkbox next to the interface, rebooting the pfsense box both warm and cold. This happens when I do a manual rules update and also when it does the automatic update. I come home every day and the interface is stopped.

The only way I have found to remedy this is to delete the interface entirely, recreate it, and reload the categories. PITA to recheck everything (much love to the developer for adding a "Check All" button in the next release).

I've been over the forums and haven't had any luck finding a solution. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

This bug should be fixed in snort 2.6 pkg v. 27.
