Windows "Enter network password"
-
Hi,
I installed pfSense and now when i try to access a public folder from one PC, windows asks me to "Enter a network password".
I never had a password, public folders are open to everyone, but since pfSense i cant get into any shared folder from another PC.
I dont know if this is related to 2.0 or if its a common thing on pfSense (im new on this as you can see).
Any help will be much appreciated !
thanks

I just want to add that i can still get into the PCs from a Mac without entering any password. But i cant get into a Mac from a PC (it asks for a password).
It seems like pfSense is restricting PCs to get into another computer on the LAN, but it doesnt have the same power to do so on Mac computers.
Any ideas ? -
pfSense is a router.
It has absolutely nothing to do with how your computers behind it communicate with each other.
–> Traffic from one computer to another never goes over the pfSense. -

I think that pfSense is creating some kind of domain, cause the network logon windows is like the ones that appears when you have the computers on a domain (not on a workgroup, which is what i have here).
Do you know why pfSense may be creating this confusion ?

PfSense is certainly not creating a windows domain but the default DNS domain which is .local may not be what your windows hosts expect. You can change the DNS domain at System->General setup.
