Fwe - ethernet over firewire not working
-
I have 2 pfSense machines connected by their fwe0 ports - I was hoping to use the fwe ports for CARP.
Unfortunately they do not ping each other.When I do an ifconfig I see this:
rl0: flags=8843 <up,broadcast,running,simplex,multicast>mtu 1500
options=8 <vlan_mtu>inet 10.10.10.150 netmask 0xff000000 broadcast 10.255.255.255
inet6 fe80::230:18ff:fea2:b806%rl0 prefixlen 64 scopeid 0x1
ether 00:30:18:a2:b8:06
media: Ethernet autoselect (100baseTX <full-duplex>)
status: active
fwe0: flags=108943 <up,broadcast,running,promisc,simplex,multicast,needsgiant>mtu 1500
options=8 <vlan_mtu>inet 192.168.10.1 netmask 0xffffff00 broadcast 192.168.10.255
inet6 fe80::30:18ff:fea0:33f4%fwe0 prefixlen 64 scopeid 0x2
ether 02:30:18:a0:33:f4
ch 1 dma 0What does the PROMISC, NEEDSGIANT and dma 0 mean? Anyone have any idea why I can't ping one fwe from another fwe?
I have set up rules to allow the pings in the fwe interface….not sure of the firewire cable though , have nothing else to test it with.

Ethernet over firewire was removed early on. It was not working correctly to begin with.
-
removed from FreeBSD or removed from pfSense?
Any hope of this coming back?

If it works down the road it will be added back.
