I loved the idea of this package  and so I installed it.  I blocked many countries and applied.  All of a sudden my system was not accessible from any device.  I was not even able to ping the LAN IP.  So only option I saw was to Reset to factory via Console/Serial.  What I found that was odd was even though I reset to factory it was still loading the Country Block package.  As far as I understood it resetting to factory wiped out any traces of the previous setup.  Everytime I tried restoring a config which was prior to the Country Block pkg install it would lock up again.  I had to Install and uninstall to get it out of the new install.

What would be nice is a way to uninstall packages from the console thus eliminating me to have to factory reset the device.

      Lesson learned!

What would really be nice is directions on how to uninstall packages from the console and a list of the names so you know how to uninstall and or list via console.

I bet you accidently selected bogon as a country. Which blocks all internal IPs. If you would have looked in the forum you would have known that and you can find out how to fix it as well.

Yes. :-)  Too bad I was unable to connect to the internet to look at that.

Does it make since though that the packages were still intact after applying factory reset?

TommyBoy did a write up on how to fix this http://forum.pfsense.org/index.php/topic,25732.0.html

I too had this happen to me. The package is great. Also be careful on what you block. For instance, I blocked all of canada and because I use their service and not a BES of our own, all BLackBerry communications stopped for data. So just be careful or make sure you know where if any services reside on the outside of the USA.

another example would be Kaspersky products. There website / server resides out of the US, but yet they have products used all over the US and stocked in almost every major store accross the states. I would recommend at least not blocking outbound connections. You will find out you access more website across seas and other countries more than you would imagine.

I did the same thing (selected bogons), the original fix of killing the package didnt work, I did a factory reset and that fixed it
