      After a fresh install of pfSense is it possible for someone to log on to the router from the WAN side? If so how can you block all router logons to only the LAN side and not WAN?

        no, you should read the documentation for pfSense, by default everything inbound is blocked, one must specifically add rules to allow traffic inbound
