SpamD not in package list anymore
-
I have installed pfSense a few times in the last 6 months. And have gotten accustomed to adding spamD to the configuration.
This morning I began an install and it is now longer in the 'available packages' list. The version I installed is 1.2.3-RELEASE
Any information on how to get spamD installed would be great.
Thanks in advance,
Steve

I believe this package was stated to be broken and unsupported by any developer. I thought this was odd since Scott Ullrich did a complete revamp of this package. I myself would like to see it come back or at least some sort of grey listing package.

It was disabled because it was broken, and there was nobody to support it (either with their own development time, or monetarily).
If someone with the know-how to fix it steps up and makes it work, we'll gladly accept patches.

I am currently using this package in house, and while not perfect (interface is flaky) the functionality of the package seems good.
Read "No problems, in the last 10 months".
Is there a way to get the package off the existing pfsense install and install it on the new box? Or is there a way to modify the pkg_mgr.php to use an older package list?
Thanks in advance,
Steve

You'd need the files from /usr/local/pkg and the entries from config.xml from under <installedpackages>(the package config, menu, service entries, etc)</installedpackages>

After I have all the necessary files and entries (looks like I can read them all from the *.inc file). How would I go about forcing the package to install/re-install?
Do I do what the inc file does manually?
Is there some documentation about the installation process that I might read to come up with these answers all on my lonesome? Thanks, Thanks, Thanks in advance,
Steve

No, there's no documentation of the internal package processes.
You'd need to do the install functions manually in some way, and also make sure any required binary files are installed, such as:
pkg_add -r http://files.pfsense.org/packages/7/All/spamd-4.1.2.tbz
