      Hello all

I have just set up Pfsence on my firebox x500, its all working fine however i am having problems configuring / connecting to the Pfsence box via ssh (lan)

I have enabled the  secure shell under “system” and advanced” when connecting via putty it prompts for a user name and password i enter the admin details but the log on fails

I have also tried generating keys with puttygen and placing the key in putty and in the web gui

I don’t seem to be getting anywhere would it be possible for someone to write a n00bs guild on configuring ssh on pfsence?

      Thanks
      Mike

pfSense is designed to be administered via the GUI, using the command line to do so is not something a self confessed n00b should consider.

That said, ISTR that you use the root account with the admin password to SSH on.  I use a key so I'm not certain.

There's nothing to it other than checking the enable box. Look at the system log to see why your attempts are failing.
