PPPoE server On LAN
-
Hi
I have activated PPPoE on LAN and using a Private IP Pool for PPPoE Pool. Everything is fine, users are able to authenticate but PPPoE Server is allocating the First IP of the Subnet to client
For Example : I have specified 192.168.100.0 as starting address in PPPoE Server Remote address range as mentioned, when the first user Authenticates user is getting IP as 192.168.100.0 which is preventing them from browsing… Any suggestion to fix this?

yes it is the starting address you should specify so simply set tjis value to 192.168.100.1 and everything is fine :-)

I'm not so sure that is the problem. I played with the ppoe server a short time ago and it didn't seem to care what address the client had because the subnet mask for the client is always 255.255.255.255.
I suspect rather that your starting address falls within an existing subnet on the router, probably the LAN subnet; this creates a routing paradox. If this is so, try changing your starting address to something that is not part of any subnet that you are using on your network, such as 10.0.100.0, and post back with your result.

Hi
Thanks for the responce
What ever IP i am providing it calculates the starting IP based on the users to be connected, Even if i give 192.168.1.1 it get changed to 192.168.1.0. The problem is even its allocating 192.168.1.0 to users too.

Have you ensured that the addresses used by the pppoe server do not overlap any other subnet in use on the router?

That's how it's supposed to work, if you want them to be within a /24 with a valid IP, you'll have to start higher in the subnet. 192.168.1.0 is a perfectly valid IP in general, just not usable within a /24 network.
