    Sorry if this has been asked but when a system goes down in a carp cluster does it take over the IP addresses of the master box.

        ok so my best best it the actual gateway IP I wish to use to configure all the systems I want as the virtual address.

          if i do not misunderstand your meaning, gateway and dns can point to Virtual IP.

            Yes so each PC on the network would point to the Gatway IP at the Virtual IP on the LAN port.
