      Hi Everyone,

I haven't changed anything in vr0. I have been playing around with Firewall rule for WAN though. And all of a sudden my clients lost their ip. Here is what I have from Status:

      LAN interface (vr0)
      Status no carrier
      MAC address 00:0d:b9:19:f8:50
      IP address 192.168.1.1
      Subnet mask 255.255.255.0
      Media none
      In/out packets 41505/48873 (8.50 MB/23.31 MB)
      In/out errors 0/0
      Collisions 3476

And here is what I have from the log:

Jul 29 21:06:24	last message repeated 7 times
Jul 29 21:16:32	last message repeated 3 times

This is not really cool. Can someone please shed light as to where I can check for this problem before I bulldozer over pfsense as an unstable DHCP router.

      Thanks a lot

This turned out to be due to a loose cable on the router vr0 port end. I don't think it was any service down fault. However, would the logs anywhere indicate if a cable is un-plugged rather than service went down?

        Thanks

Link down means the NIC can't see the signal from the station at the other end of the cable - broken cable is the most likely cause but could include broken socket, broken NIC, loose connection etc.
