Just checking if it should be or if the following message means I should look for another card? During boot and on re-insertion text appears as follows:

      dc0: <abocom 10="" fe2500="" 100basetx="">port 0x1300-0x13ff mem 0x88000000-0x8800003ff
      irq 11 at device 0.0 on cardbus0
      dc0:MII without any PHY!
      device_attach: dc0 attach returned 6

The computer it is plugged into is a Compaq N800v. Any other information I should provide?</abocom>

The FreeBSD supported hardware list for version 8.1 (http://www.freebsd.org/releases/8.1R/hardware.html) lists the Abocom FE2500 so your card should work.

I would guess that this card was last tested a few releases ago and some change in teh meantime broke the support. If you want it fixed you will probably have to report it to a FreeBSD forum or lodge a problem report.

The fastest resolution would probably be to purchase a more recent cardbus card.
